Generous residents helped push Sarnia-Lambton into first place in Canada and second in the world for total meals collected at the fourth annual CANstruction event in March.

The local drive collected 39,131 pounds of food, which combined with the money collected, provided 194,649 meals.

That ranked Sarnia second only to Kansas City in the 2014-15 competition, the organization said.

CANstruction is a friendly competition at the Lambton Mall featuring teams that build structures entirely from non-perishable food.

“The Inn is blessed to have such a caring community,” said Myles Vanni, executive director of The Inn of the Good Shepherd.
