Boat traffic is once again using Cow Creek after its sand-clogged mouth was cleared over three days earlier this month.

Heavy equipment dug a channel two metres deep and eight metres wide and piled the clean sediment on shore, allowing the backed-up creek that winds through Bright’s Grove to flow freely again.

The city is now seeking permission to dump the sand and gravel back into Lake Huron to help build up beaches to the west, and plans a deeper dredge with routine maintenance in future, said construction manager Rob Williams.
