The Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting U11 B team won the Waterloo Fall Cup Challenge Championship over the weekend, going undefeated throughout the tournament, leading up to a 2-1 final over the Saugeen Shores Storm.
“Our girls put together five of our best games of the season and deserved to win that gigantic championship trophy,” said head coach Greg Edgar. “It was a total team effort with balanced scoring and hard-nosed responsible defending.”
The Lady Sting allowed just five goals throughout the course of the tournament, where they saved the best game for last, Edgar added.
“The tension was high as we protected a 2-1 lead down the stretch, but our girls stayed cool and outworked our opponent to seal the championship.”
“Very well deserved girls,” he added. “Those gold medals looked great ‘shimmering from the blueline.’”
