SA25008363 – Shoplifting – Robbery and Fail to Comply Probation
On Thursday March 27th 2025 at 3:30pm, police were called to a grocery store in the Indian Road and Exmouth Street for a theft in progress. A male suspect was observed stealing several packages of meat and a loss prevention officer attempted to arrest the male for theft as he exited. The suspect resisted arrest, becoming violent and threatening to kill the loss prevention officer.
Members of the Sarnia Police Service Offender Management Unit were in the parking lot of the grocery store on an unrelated matter. They heard the radio call and observed the suspect fleeing to a nearby vehicle. Police approached the vehicle and ordered the female driver and the male suspect to exit. They refused to comply and initiated attempts to flee. Fearing for the safety of the many people in the parking lot, it necessitated officers to breach vehicle windows in order to affect the arrest and prevent their escape.
Investigation revealed that the male was out on a recognizance and in violation of his release conditions.
