The Sarnia Police Major Case Action Team (MCAT) regularly investigates drug trafficking within the City of Sarnia.
On January 30, 2025, members of MCAT, supported by the SPS Emergency Response Team (ERT) and K9, executed two search warrants under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The first warrant was for a residence in the 200 block of Elgin Street and the second for a storage facility at another location. Of note, this was the third warrant executed at this residence within the past year.
Two adults and a young person were located inside and taken into custody without incident. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of the following:
- 2.97 grams of crack cocaine (street value: $300)
- 111.34 grams of powdered cocaine (street value: $13,360)
- 5.28 grams of crystal methamphetamine (street value: $158)
- 82.5 pills of 8mg Dilaudid (hydromorphone) (street value: $825)
- $220 in cash
- A search of a related vehicle resulted in the seizure of a set of brass knuckles.
Total estimated street value of drugs seized: $14,643
As a result of the investigation, A 35 year old of Sarnia has been held for bail on the following charges:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and hydromorphone
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles)
A 28 year old of Sarnia was held for a bail hearing on the following charges:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and hydromorphone
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
The young person was not charged with any offences.
