Peacefully on April 13, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Henk Zantingh died at the age of 87. He married the love of his life, Sylvia Zantingh in 1960, who preceded him in death in November of 2001. Loving father of Carolyn (Peter) Van Reenen and Fred (Tracey) Zantingh. Cherished grandpa of Angela (Nate) Anjema, Julie (Nick) Huls, Janine (Eric) VanRaay; Haley (Ryan) Gauss, Mitchell (Cara) Van Reenen, and Zachary (Cassidy) Van Reenen. Treasured great grandpa of 15 great grandchildren. Special friend of Marty Vandermeer. Brother-in-law to Mary Zantingh, Bob Zylstra, Tina (Dick) Metselaar, and Agnes (Jerry) Keunen.  Predeceased by his father Pieter Zantingh in 1973, his mother Geesje Zantingh in 2011, his son Arnold in 2022, his sister Tina Linker in 2018, his brother-in-law Bart Linker in 2001, his brother Peter Zantingh in 2022, his sister Helen Zylstra in 2015, his sister-in-law Linda Heyink in 2011 and Gary Heyink in 2024. He was also deeply cared for by extended family and many friends.

Henk was a faithful member of First Christian Reformed Church since 1960. In Sarnia, he was well known as a skilled home builder, working in the trade for over 40 years before retiring in 2000. He loved to travel, especially to Treasure Island, Florida, where he spent time every year for the past 30 years at the Thunderbird Motel, his home away from home. One of Henk’s favorite places to relax closer to home was Lakewood Christian Campground where he enjoyed his summers. Henk had a real talent for woodworking, often spending hours in his workshop building birdhouses and train sets. Henk also had a passion for photography, always ready with his camera.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Crombeen, the volunteers and staff at St. Joseph's Hospice, and the staff at Bluewater Health for their care and compassion.

Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. A private family interment will be held in Blackwell Cemetery.
