Lawrence Albert Wight passed away peacefully and went home into the loving arms of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus on Monday June 2, 2025, in his 94th year. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Grace Marilyn (2020) with whom he shared a life full of love and faith. Loving father of Cathy McIntosh (Norm), Nancy Lockhart (Steve), Gary Wight (Cheryl), Becky MacKinlay (Tom), and predeceased by daughter Karen Bell (1992), (Jeff, Charity). He created a lasting legacy of love that will continue to inspire and shape the lives of his grandchildren: Holly, Scott (Zsofia), Hilary, Richard (Taija), Heather, Christie (Steve), Craig (Karen), Hannah (Allan), Laura (Chad), Duncan (Jennifer) and Bethany. Deeply loved by his great grandchildren: Joe, Cameron, Scarlett, Genevieve, Zander, Makenna, Barrett, Calder, Kylar, Sierra, Brayden, Ember, Hayden, Finn, Ana, Klara, Emma, and William, predeceased by Matthew (2020). Survived by his brother Wilfrid Wight (Connie). Predeceased by sisters Mildred (Arnold), and Marjorie (Lorne), and by brother Ron (Dorothy).

Lawrence loved spending time with his family, sharing stories of his memories. He found joy in attending parties, graduations, celebrations, sporting events, and vacations with his family. He loved his weekly activities—golfing, swimming, carpet bowling, shuffleboard, and church groups. Lawrence made friends wherever he went and was well known in the community. He loved to share his faith and was known for sharing the story and the tract about the boy who went over Niagara Falls.

He was a true icon in the neighbourhood, always ready with a warm smile, a kind word, and willing to help where he could. His presence was felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him, whether through a friendly conversation, a shared laugh, or a simple act of generosity.

A special thank you to his neighbours who regularly delivered meals and checked in on him. Cremation has taken place. A private family internment of ashes will be held at Arkona Cemetery. We invite you to join us in celebrating his beautiful life at Temple Baptist Church, 1410 Quinn Drive, Sarnia, on Monday, June 16, 2025. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by Celebration of Life service at 2:00 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Temple Baptist Church (Children and Youth Ministry) (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
