Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Afton Park Place, Margaret Weisz passed away at the age of 79. Beloved wife of George Weisz of 57 years. Loving mother of Dianne Weisz and Kathryn (Ken) Graham. Cherished Oma of Jayson and Olivia Graham. Dear sister to Lillian (John) Wiggers, John (Leslie) Reiser, Maryann Reiser, and Anne (Doug) Alexander. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Theresa (Michael) Reiser and Joseph Schmol. Margaret was born in Papa, Hungary during World War 2. After the loss of her father during the War, Margaret and her mother fled to Eastern Germany, where they lived for several years. They emigrated to Canada in 1954, where her mother met and married Michael Reiser, who became a beloved father. Margaret started her career as a hairdresser and a hairdressing instructor. She continued to do the family’s hair for years. In 1958, Margaret met George Weisz, and they were married in 1966. They began their married life together in Toronto and moved to Sarnia, where they welcomed their daughters. Work led to more relocations across Ontario, including Windsor, Mississauga and back to Sarnia, where the family settled in 1983. Margaret loved children and joined the R.C. School Board as an Educational Assistant. She decided to retire in 2001 so she could help with her grandchildren Jayson and Olivia. The tradition of “Tuesday’s with Oma and Opa” began and the four of them had countless adventures together. Margaret also had a passion for gardening, and spent many hours working outside. She and George were longtime volunteers for St. Vincent de Paul. The family would like to thank the staff of Afton Park Place for all the help they provide for them over the years. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. with a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Alzheimer Society or St. Vincent de Paul (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home.
