Rachel Smith (nee Chapko), passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Sprucedale Care Centre, Strathroy in her 76th year. Rachel was the loving wife of the late Peter Smith (2003). She was the loved mother of Kristie and Jeff Cable and Tammie and Billy Douglas, grandmother of Alicia (David), Nicolas (Teegan), Melissa, Carlie (Logan), and Courtnie (Shane) and great grandmother of Chet. She will be missed by her sister Sharon Chapko. Rachel was predeceased by her parents Stephen and Blanche Chapko and will be reunited with her great granddaughter Joy. Rachel was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Petrolia. Rachel enjoyed the last six years she spent at Sprucedale Care Centre and would like to thank the staff for the care they gave her the last six years.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, 4059 Petrolia Line, Petrolia visitors will be received prior to the service beginning at 12 noon. Interment will be in Hillsdale Cemetery.
