With heavy hearts and deep gratitude, we announce the passing of Raymond George Lowrie, who went to be with his Lord and Saviour on October 24, 2024 at C.E.E. Hospital, Petrolia. Ray was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith that will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched.
Ray was married to his devoted wife, Bonnie (née Burgess), since 1973, and together they created a warm and loving home for their daughter Teri and her husband Bill Shively. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Summer and Justin Meloche and Eric Shively, and he took great joy in being a great-grandfather to little Ava, who brought him endless delight.
Ray is survived by his loving sister Nancy and her husband Larry McAuley, along with many cherished family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Clayton Lowrie, and his dear sisters, Arlene (the late Al) Casier, and Lynda (the late Dave) Shepherd.
A dedicated Lay Reader at St. John's Wyoming, Ray’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. He loved his church family dearly. Ray was also a trailblazer in his profession, serving as the first male Registered Practical Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Sarnia, where his compassionate care touched many lives.
In retirement, Ray pursued his passion for helping others by earning his Pet Therapy Certificate through St. John’s Ambulance with his beloved furry companion, Pepper. He had a keen mind for puzzles and an infectious sense of humor that brought joy to all around him.
Ray’s life was a beautiful testament to the love of God and the importance of family, friendship, and service. As we grieve his loss, we celebrate the incredible man he was and find comfort in knowing he is now in the presence of the Lord.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the C.E.E. Hospital Foundation (ceehf.ca) or Christ Church Anglica (414 Oil St, Petrolia, ON N0N 1R0).
