"For that dash represents all the time they spent alive on earth and now only those who loved them know what that little line is worth."

Surrounded by his family at Bluewater Health Palliative Care, Cory passed peacefully after courageously facing the beasts MS and ALS head-on with dignity and strength.

Cory is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sherri, his beautiful daughters and their wonderful spouses Brooke Lindsay (Ryan Guenther) and Allyson Vozza (Nate Vozza), loving parents Shelley and Morris Bongers, brothers Todd Lindsay (Kim), Trevor Lindsay (Melinda) and Craig Lindsay (Dolly), beloved Son-in law to Sue Winter (Roger Winter) and the late Don Rand, much loved and teased by sister-in-law Jodi Rand (Jeff Poirier), father Jerry Lindsay. Cory will be lovingly remembered by a large crew of nieces and nephews. Cory's love for his family was unconditional and eternal.

Cory has an army of loved ones who were surely there to welcome him at the pearly gates, especially his buddy Mike. Hopefully they will work together to finally wrangle up a Stanley Cup victory for their beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.

Cory was employed for 19 years at Specialty Machine and Fabrication. The owners and crew there are a fantastic bunch that are more like family. Owners Tim and Randy have gone above and beyond for our family and the outpouring of love, care and generosity from the SMF family has been so greatly appreciated. Cory loved working with you all and we hope you know how much you all meant to him. He really enjoyed reading all of your beautiful messages.

Our family would like to thank home care nurse Mandy, who Cory affectionately referred to as "The Warden" for the compassionate care she delivered with just enough sass to keep up with Cory's antics. Neurologist Dr. Christen Shoesmith, her nurse Denise and BWH Dr. Orla MacSweeney provided such kind and compassionate care to Cory and our family during such a difficult time. Thanks to Dr. Joseph Spano and his staff, the ALS society and all of the organizations, therapists and other health care professionals that helped to care for Cory. Special thanks to the Palliative Care nurses, they truly are angels on earth and gave us all so much comfort in the way they cared for our beloved Cory as well as our whole family. Our gratitude and utmost respect to Willi, a very special person, who helped guide Cory home. Her compassion and empathy are beyond measure and we hope she recognizes just how special she is and how important her work is to so many. Thanks to Sarnia Cremation Services for the respectful way they cared for Cory after his passing.

Brooke and Allyson would like to express their deepest thanks and accolades to their mother Sherri who took on the role of caretaker on top of her regular job without hesitation. Always willing to do whatever it took to protect our dad, make him comfortable, and ensure he was shown never ending love. Our mom and dads endless love has given us the perfect example to strive for in our new and growing families and we thank them everyday for allowing us to learn and see firsthand what true love looks like.

We would like to acknowledge the special bond that Cory shared with his brother Craig. Craig has always been such a wonderful friend to Cory, but even more so during his illness. They had an unbreakable bond. We are grateful for your love and support and we love you so much; we will get through this together.

We would like to thank everyone who has reached out to our family. The outpouring of love, meals, calls, messages and visits gave us the strength we needed to carry on. You have all made a difference and we are grateful for you all.

Cory was so proud to be able to reach all of the goals he was determined to accomplish after his diagnosis. He was able to walk both of his beloved daughters down the aisle, he celebrated his 30 year wedding anniversary and he was able to go on a family trip to a cottage. He has left us with some very special memories

Friends and family are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life for Cory on Friday, October 4th from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Polish Hall, 173 Exmouth Street in Sarnia. A light lunch will be served.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Society in memory of Cory would be greatly appreciated.

Cory, the world was a better place with you in it and we are all better people for having known you. Our love for you is eternal. Rest easy until we meet again.
