It is with saddened hearts that the family of John Barrie Lawton announces his passing at Bluewater Health (Sarnia) at the age of 77. He was the former husband of Lori Forsyth of Sarnia. Dear brother of the late Eldon (Barb) Lawton, the late Bev (Janet) Lawton, the late Dowie (Margie) Lawton, Ben (Becky Anne) Lawton, and the late Linda (John) Uher, as well as sister-in-law Carolyn Forsyth, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Lela (Johnston). Unfortunately, John was a devoted fan of the Detroit Lions, Wings, Tigers, and other losing teams, U of M Wolverines, Motor City Casino, and Hawaiian College baseball teams. He also had the pleasure of knowing Adrian Vanderaa of Port Huron, Holger Peters, Rob Hilson, Archie Gillis, Betsey Reid, Trudy de la Fontaine of California and Hawaii, Christian Ip of Sarnia, Trish Hicks, his caring neighbour, and Ron Realesmith, a former student, who created an article about John found on the Sarnia Historical Society website, https://sarniahistoricalsociety.com/story/john-lawton-history-teacher-that-inspired-a-new-generation/. John was a dedicated educator at a number of schools with the Lambton Kent DSB and former Lambton County Board of Education. As he stated, his assignment of life included coaching, gambling, beautiful lovers, as well as a few general failures. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral or visitation. Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
