It is with great sadness, the family announces the passing of David Douglas Laird after a battle with congestive heart failure.
Beloved Husband of Monica (nee Murphy) for 44 years. Loving son of Doug, the late Violet (2004) Laird and Step mother Yvonne (2021). Cherished Father of Doug (Heather), Ben, Danielle (Jared). Treasured grandfather to Sully and Penny Laird, Emily Laird, Rhett and Vera Johnson. Dear Brother of Deb (Vince) Romano, the late Brad (2022) and (Mary) Laird.
Adored Brother-in-law to Larry (Denise) Murphy, Martha (Ric) Gillesby, Gerard (Wendy) Murphy, Patrice (Bob) McClemens, Julie(Rupert) MacDonald. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Dave’s passions were fishing, hunting, watching his grandchildren play hockey, family dinners, Toronto Maple Leafs, collecting and returning empties and donating all proceeds to Relay for Life-Sarnia.
Dave was an avid participant in Lambton Conservation Association and Relay for Life –Sarnia. The family would like to thank the Murphy’s, Lairds and friends for all their support over these past few weeks and months. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Palliative care in Sarnia for their exemplary care and the Cardiac unit at University Hospital - London, ON. Cremation has taken place.
Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia on Wednesday, April 24rd, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
