It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father, Dale Cousins, on May 9, 2025, at Bluewater Health Charlotte Eleanor Englehart hospital in Petrolia, surrounded by his loving family. He was 80 years old. Born on November 15, 1944, also at Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital in Petrolia, Dale lived a life full of purpose, generosity, and devotion to family, work, and community. He attended Forest District High School and later built a fulfilling career at Imperial Oil - Royal Polymers. Dale was exceptionally skilled with his hands. A gifted carpenter and true jack-of-all-trades, he was known for his ability to build, fix, and create nearly anything. He was always eager to help others, and his family and friends could always rely on his kindness, hard work, and generosity. A music lover, he enjoyed playing a variety of instruments—especially the guitar—and listening to all genres of music. He was a loyal fan of the London Knights and proudly served as a Relay for Life team captain for Cousins Crusaders, inspiring hope and determination. Together with his late wife Marilyn, Dale warmly opened their home by serving as land-parents for the Petrolia Jets Junior B hockey team for five years, as well as being a host family for the community living association for seven years. Dale is predeceased by his beloved wife Marilyn, his brothers Wayne Cousins and Robert Cousins as well as his parents Bill and Grace Cousins. He is lovingly remembered by his children Rick (Jill) Cousins, Tanya (Aaron) Turpin, and Brad (Janice) Cousins. Cherished grandfather of Todd (Amanda), Christian (Sarah), Ryder, Carson, Carter, and Jordyn and great grandfather to Jensen and Oakley. Dear brother of Gary (Ray Crosby) Cousins and Marilyn (Rick) Spicer. He is also survived by his special friend, Sandra Brace, who brought him comfort and companionship in his later years. Dale will be remembered for his warm heart, strong character, and selfless spirit. He will be missed by his extended family, many friends, and all who had the honour of knowing him. A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 2:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., 1576 London Line, Sarnia. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (cheques only to the funeral home please).
Forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
