With profound sadness I share that my beloved husband of 37 years, Donald David Adkins, has passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025.

Don was the most significant person in the story of my life and I thank him for chapter after chapter of laughter, sacred milestones, love and significant memories. I will forever see his heart with every breath I take. When I miss Don the most I will close my eyes and feel his arms wrapped around me.

Don spent the last two years at Marshall Gowland Manor where his smile lit up the place and his humour transformed the ordinary into extraordinary. I will be forever grateful for all their love, phenomenal care and kindness. His special friends in the dining room delighted him daily with whatever he desired and he was pampered by all.

Don shared a significant, life altering relationship with Brad Mitchell and his sister Lisa and their families, he was their bonus father.

Don was the father of Catherine Adkins, David (Lynn) Adkins, Paul Adkins, Margaret Ragetli (Johan) and Michael (Jo Anne). Grandfather of Adam and Zach Kashef, Lauren Mazzatto (Alex) and Steven Adkins (Michaela), Sander Ragetli , Jacob Ragetli (Kat) and Nicholas Ragetli (Diana). Don was the youngest child of Henry and Violet Adkins, of Hensall, Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents and four brothers Howard, Wilmer, Stewart and Jack and sister Shirley.

Don’s career at Suncor was rewarding, but the most meaningful by far was the lifelong relationships he shared with many like Doug Haney and Lee Domany.

Don and I have chosen to honour him and us with benches at various places like the Howard Watson Trail where we walked and biked and always held hands. That will be his celebration for a life well lived. I loved Don with all of me and have all consuming gratitude for loving me in ways that nobody else ever could. I will carry your love with me always.

A very special thanks to Sarnia Cremation for treating me with such respect and care during this painful time. They have been phenomenal.
