A Sarnia firefighter has been honoured for his “amazing” work with Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Chris Ireland was presented with the Extra Mile Award in Toronto recently, given annually to a firefighter or fire department that goes the extra mile.

A two-year campaign to raise $2.8 million for the local hospital’s MRI is $40,000 shy of its goal. It was hoped proceeds from last month’s Dream Home Lottery would complete the campaign if tickets sold out, but sales fell just short at 95%.

A Sarnia mother and her son have been charged with drug trafficking. City police entered a home in the 200 block of Durand Street Tuesday night and arrested a 47-year-old woman and her son, 19, who lives at the same address.
