Law enforcement officers, Special Olympics athletes, and community members will take to the streets this Friday, June 6, for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), raising awareness and support for Special Olympics Ontario.
The Lambton County OPP is encouraging the public to either join the run or cheer from the sidelines as the torch makes its way through the community. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. at Waterfront Park in Point Edward, beneath the Bluewater Bridge, and concludes at 720 Christina Street in Sarnia, where participants will gather for a community BBQ.
“Please join our local law enforcement and Special Olympics athletes as we come together to support an amazing organization. You can run, rollerblade, bike, or cheer to show your support,” said Provincial Constable and Lambton OPP LETR Liaison Amy O’Keefe.
The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run is a province-wide initiative that brings together police services and local communities in support of athletes with intellectual disabilities. Donations will be accepted in person on the day of the event by cash or cheque, or online at soocommunity.crowdchange.ca.
This annual event serves not only as a fundraiser but as a visible reminder of the region’s commitment to inclusion, celebration, and community connection.
