The Lambton Heritage Museum is hosting a summer exhibition by the North Lambton Quilters’ Guild, highlighting dozens of handmade quilts and textile works by local artisans.
The Guild, active since 1989, has exhibited at the museum for nearly 20 years. Its bi-annual Quilt Show includes a range of traditional and contemporary pieces, from full-sized quilts to garments, wall hangings, table-toppers, and accessories. Many of the works are accompanied by notes from the artists explaining their inspiration, design choices, and quilting techniques.
“We are thrilled to once again partner with the North Lambton Quilters’ Guild to present this much-loved show,” said Dana Thorne, Curator/Supervisor at Lambton Heritage Museum. “Visitors will be delighted by the variety of projects submitted and the creativity on display. This Quilt Show always demonstrates an incredible amount of talent, experience, and skill. It’s going to be a beautiful summer highlight here at the Museum.”
The exhibition opens with a three-day event from Thursday, June 19 to Saturday, June 21, open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During that time, visitors can meet Guild members, browse quilting supplies and books from vendors, enjoy refreshments in the tearoom, and visit the Guild’s quilting garage sale. Regular museum admission applies.
After the opening weekend, a selection of quilts and textiles will remain on display through August 31.
Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and students, and $3 for children. Children aged three and under are free. For full details, visit heritagemuseum.ca.
