Members of the Sarnia Rapids Swim Club have had an exciting month.
Fifteen swimmers qualified for and attended the 2023 Western Regional LC (long course) swimming championships held June 2-4 at the Windsor Aquatic and Training Centre, among some 650 swimmers from 29 teams across the region.
Sarnia Rapids swimmers won a total of 14 medals and 32 ribbons (fourth to eighth place), including 13 swimmers who had top-ten finishes in at least one event.
Aili Girardi and Natalie Pretty both qualified for and competed in the Ontario Youth Junior Swimming Championships held June 25-18.
Natalie earned a 5th place in the 50m free and a 7th in the 200m breaststroke.
Aili placed 6th in the 100m butterfly and medaled in the 200m backstroke with a 3rd place, earning her spot in the Provisional Championships.
