The Heritage Sarnia-Lambton museum network invites history enthusiasts to join their upcoming virtual Heritage Hour event, Made in Canada: Canadian Symbols in Artifacts on Thursday, May 8, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. This free online lecture will showcase distinctive Canadian artifacts from museum collections across Lambton County.
During this one-hour virtual presentation, local museum professionals will share and discuss items representing iconic Canadian symbols including beavers, maple leaves, moose, and other national treasures that highlight our country's cultural heritage and historical significance.
"Our virtual Heritage Hour series has become a popular way for history enthusiasts to connect with our local museums and learn about the treasures in our collections," said Dana Thorne, Curator/Supervisor of Lambton Heritage Museum. "This patriotic edition celebrates the symbols and stories that have shaped our national identity."
The event will be hosted via Microsoft Teams, allowing attendees to participate from the comfort of their homes. Museum professionals from across Lambton County will present artifacts from their collections and share the stories behind these pieces of Canadian history. Presenters include Dana Thorne (Lambton Heritage Museum), David McLean (Forest Museum), Greg Stott (Historian, University College of the North), Kailyn Shepley (Sombra Museum), and Fiona Doherty (Moore Museum).
