Literacy Lambton’s annual holiday Give-a-Book campaign surpassed its goal this year, delivering more than 3,000 books

Each year, the agency partners with community groups to collect hundreds of books to ensure  local youngsters — from babies, to age 18 — can “experience the joy of unwrapping a new book.”

This year saw an additional 683 books collected and eight new distribution partners ensuring many more children will receive a book over the holidays,” a news release noted,  pointing to a total of 3,787 books circulated through 34 frontline partners.

That’s nearly 700 more books than last year’s record numbers, and an additional eight distribution partners, the agency noted.

“Literacy Lambton wishes to thank groups including Arlanxeo, Rotary Club of Sarnia Bluewaterland, the I.O.D.E. Errol Egremont chapter, Optimist Club of Sarnia Lakeshore, Discovery Book Club, and the many private donors who supported this campaign,” the release stated.

“A nod to Give-a-Book key partners: the staffers of The Book Keeper and Coles in Lambton Mall. Their dedication to promoting this Sarnia-Lambton holiday tradition is a major factor of the campaign's success.”
