Ontario Power Generation is cutting the final cord on Nanticoke but will continue to preserve the Lambton Generating Station for possible future conversion to another fuel.
The move means about 25 staff will continue to work at the mothballed power plant near Courtright, OPG said.
Nanticoke and Lambton were both coal-fired stations that provided electricity for more than 40 years before the Ontario government switched to cleaner alternatives and shut them both down in 2013.
