Food structures on display

The annual CANstruction is once display again to the Lambton Mall. The friendly competition, which features teams building structures entirely from non-perishable food, runs until May 1 throughout the shopping centre.

The friendly competition, which features teams building structures entirely from non-perishable food, runs until May 1 throughout the shopping centre.

All food and money raised during the 7th annual event goes to The Inn of the Good Shepherd for use in its food bank and soup kitchen.

“Having raised over 43,000 pounds of food last year, it has become The Inn’s major food fundraiser and helps keep our shelves stocked until Thanksgiving,” said executive director Myles Vanni.

Internationally, Sarnia finished 11th for money raised and 21st for food collected last year.

The city has always placed in the Top 25, beating larger cities such as Dallas, Philadelphia and Cleveland.
