Yard signs have appeared to raise awareness about Sarnia’s lead reduction program and its free water testing for residences.

The city is currently focused on the area of older homes bounded by Murphy Road, Highway 402, the St. Clair River and St. Andrew Street to the south.

About 98% of the properties tested so far have registered below Ontario’s regulatory standard for lead content in drinking water (10 ug/L).

If a property has lead levels exceeding the standard, a team can provide options to reduce or eliminate lead in the home.

Homeowners are also offered a filter rebate program and loans to replace old lead service lines.

Residents with questions or concerns are asked to call 519-332-0330, ext. 2232, or email [email protected]
