Dear Editor,
As I casted my vote today, I felt so light and cheerful. It was the circumstances that made me feel great! I saw so many people going for the early vote, and many of them volunteering to get trained for the big day on Monday, April 28. Despite the current economic situation in Canada with American tariffs looming like a dark cloud on us all.
We, Canadians, have been awakening to the new reality of the American-made new world order, and we for sure don’t like it! From calling Canada the 51st state, to bullying our auto industry, farming industry, steel, aluminum, lumber etc., Canadians young and old have been upset by the unusual selfish actions of the new administration south of the border. What are we going to do about it? Well, I’ve seen for the first time in my life true proud Canadians not bending or giving in! And that’s how Canada should be. We’re the reasonable, trustworthy Peace-Keepers of the globe, not a small job if you ask me. But, we’re not a pushover.
So, when it comes to casting your vote, make sure you go out and vote. Don’t let the crowds for this or that party discourage you. Don’t give your vote to fear-mongering ideas, and practices! Give your vote to those that you trust. Don’t accept double-talking politicians for your representative. However, accept the results of the elections even if your chosen candidate don’t win. Don’t forget, we all work for the greater good of Canada and the Canadian society, with different methods.
I for one will work with any representative that gets elected, whatever their political colour is. It may be easier to work with like-minded people, but it’s also rewarding to collaborate with those that you disagree with.
One last thing I’m planning to do. I’m not going to be silent in face of violations of human rights both in Canada and abroad. We have learned one valuable lesson for sure in the recent time, and that’s what goes around must come around!
So fellow Sarnians, let’s go out in droves and make our voices heard!! Then, ensure our elected representative work hard to have our needs, values, and prosperity on their minds, and share it with their caucus (whether they are the governing party or not!).
