Allan Eichler of Sarnia is $50,000 richer after winning a top prize playing Instant Bingo, the OLG announced this week.
“I scratched the ticket at home and saw I won but thought I made a mistake,” Eichler, a retiree, said in a news release. “I thought it had to be an April Fool’s joke!”
He recently picked up his cheque at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.
“I went to the store to check my ticket and when the Big Winner screen appeared, I kept thinking, ‘There’s no way this is real!’
“I am so happy,” he added. “I am going to do a lot of good with this money.”
Eichler said he plans to share his windfall with his sister and treat himself with a new pair of shoes.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Confederation Variety on Confederation Street in Sarnia.
