Donating two new bike racks to London Road Public School!

The Sarnia Journal has partnered with the nuSarnia Foundation to feature a series of stories promoting active transportation and community wellness.

Last fall, we had the privilege of donating two new bike racks to London Road Public School!

We had the chance to hear from Chris, the school principal, who shared with us the unique situation of their public school:

"At our school, nearly all students make their own way here, with only one small bus available. By having accessible bike racks in a highly visible area, we hope to encourage even more students to bike to school instead of being dropped off by car. We believe biking is a healthier way to arrive and can lead to greater academic achievement."

Change needs to be easy to happen. By making it "easy" to bike to school, we can promote healthy habits and positive change. The donation of bike racks significantly contributes to this effort. Additionally, Chris will be reinforcing active transportation messaging, especially in the early to mid-Spring.

The bike racks are located directly in the schoolyard, ensuring high visibility and student traffic throughout the day. With a simple lock, bikes can be securely stored. Chris is so confident in the safety of students' bikes that it is his personal goal to bike to school at least twice a week starting in April!

A huge thank you to Active Playground Equipment for providing the bike racks! If you know of a local school or business that could benefit from a bike rack grant, please reach out to us!
